Meet Andy Walters - Youth Team Leader
How old are you Andy and where did you grow up ?
I’m 27 and grew up about 30 minutes away in Hindhead.
How did you become a Christian ?
Although it sounds strange I became a Christian in 1999 through reading the book of Revelation. My RE teacher was talking about how interesting it was and so I went home and read it. As I did I encountered the Holy Spirit and realized what I was reading was true. From then I began to pray and read the rest of the Bible, I knew nothing of Jesus but as I read and prayed I realized he was real and that he’s alive and that changed everything!
What difference does being a Christian make to you ?
The difference being a Christian makes is that I’m not alone, life is an adventure and I can experience what I’ve always been looking for, my heavenly fathers love.
What did you do before you came to Harvest Church ?
From 2007 to 2010 I worked as a youth worker for an Anglican church called ST Peters in Loudwater near High Wycombe. I oversaw all the work the church did with 11-18 year olds.

What do you like about young people ?
I think young peoples hope and passion is really inspiring. They get hold of something and run with it and believe that anything is possible. I think that is a really vital thing both in church and in life.
Young people are also a lot of fun!
What are your plans as youth team leader ?
Initially my focus will be getting to know everyone; the young people, volunteers and the wider church. I think it’s important to understand where things are at before changing anything.
What do you like doing in your spare time ?
I like spending time with friends, especially over food. I enjoy reading. I’m into films whether at the cinema or watching a DVD. I’ve been into DJ-ing for the past 10 years and really love dance and urban music.
