AMC CIC
The Alton Maltings Centre Community Interest Company (AMC CIC) runs the commercial operations at the Alton Maltings Centre on behalf of the Church. Since the café and bookshop are run by volunteers (and are therefore not technically classed as commercial), this specifically means the conferencing and catering facilities. Some 2,000 people make use of the Alton Maltings Centre’s facilities every month, with activities ranging from parent and toddler groups to business lunches to full-sized conferences. AMC CIC employs a small core team to look after the Centre, headed up by Robin Coulson as Centre Manager. It also has a Board of non-executive directors appointed by the Trustees and Elders of Harvest Church and the Grain House Trust. Peter Haddow is the current Chairman of this Board.
The AMC CIC is not a limited company, but rather a Community Interest Company, which means that it has a specific mandate to work for the benefit of the local community. Each year a company report must be produced and submitted to Companies House that demonstrates how the company is serving the local community. Additionally, it is stipulated in the company’s Articles of Association that any profit made must be given to the Grain House Trust.
